A visit not to be missed in Hoi An

COOKING LESSON AND BICYCLING THROUGH THE VIETNAMESE COUNTRYSIDE

We will depart from Hoi An by boat to arrive on the small island on the Thu Bon River Delta, where my grandmother still lives.

While you taste some fresh fruit juice, I will describe life in the countryside, and I will take you on a visit of my family’s traditional wooden house. You will discover how, once, we worked the rice with utensils of the time. You will settle in the cool garden to make your rice cakes and participate in the cooking class.

Around the stove, you will find all of the necessary ingredients to prepare you meal. I will explain their virtues and role in Vietnamese cuisine. Together, we will prepare 4 different Vietnamese dishes with the Hoi An touch.

Afterwards, we will settle, comfortably, in the garden, in the shade of the bamboo to taste your creations together.

cooking lesson and guiding cycling ride in the countryside around Hoi AnAfter having dessert, we will depart for a bicycle tour of the Vietnamese countryside, meeting some local families.

I will show you how the rice alcohol is made, and we will see the weaving of the traditional cane mats that serve as mattresses. You will learn the secrets of the famous round bamboo basket boats, and we will meet a family of artisans who have worked with mother-of-pearl for generations.

During our ride, we will cross rice fields, and if it’s the season, you will be able to see the farmers working in their fields.

This bicycle ride is accessible to everyone. The itinerary is only 9km and we will take only small paths with little traffic.

Join us off the “beaten path” and back in time for a day.
